FIRST TIME OFFENDERS
If you are charged with a crime and have no prior criminal history, you may be eligible for the Pre-Trial Diversion Program (PTD) or the Pre-Trial Intervention Program (PTI).
PTD or PTI allows you to complete a few sanctions over a period of time, usually 6 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the charge, and upon successful completion of the sanctions, the prosecution will drop your case! Diversion is a great option for those who do not want to risk taking a case to trial or seek to have their case dropped.
Additionally, if an individual does not successfully complete diversion, their case starts again from the beginning, and the client can still choose to plea or take the case to trial. Diversion is usually an option for misdemeanor cases, simple DUIs with no crashes, most third degree felonies, and some second-degree felonies.
